The beautiful city of Bordeaux will soon build a beautiful wooden office tower complex called Hyperion.
Designed by Jean-Paul Viguier Architecture, Hyperion consists of three blue-covered towers on the roof and balcony garden. The tower will be located in the city's Saint-Jean Belcier district and it will be part of a large 17,000 square meter mixed use project.
Named after a tree with the world's longest lifespan, the project consists of an eye-catching large wooden tower and two lower-tall buildings. This 18-story project also includes balconies that protrude from the building to maximize the viewpoint and create a unique facade. Green balconies and roofs facilitate microclimate, filter temperature and minimize unwanted solar surge.
The open-glass structure creates more natural light and optimizes ventilation. Wooden buildings will be constructed from a combination of veneer and glulam plywood for one main structure, while laminated crosswoods are used for floors and walls.
The project will provide space for 82 apartments and offices. The largest building will be prefabricated and then assembled on site to minimize waste. Hyperion is scheduled to begin construction by the end of 2017 and will be completed by 2020.
